All participants will receive a certificate despite their level of success.

Ribbons and prizes can be given to qualifiers at the discretion of the organizer/search designer.

The organisers /search designer can offer the following 8 merit awards – with up to 2 awards being given per element.

Handler awards

Recognition of Superb Handling

Handling is a key aspect of dog handlers' role to allow the dog to be successful in its job. This award is recognition of the way a handler, handles their dog inside the search area.

Best efforts in rewarding dog

Every dog deserves to be recognised for their effort, this award goes to the handler who embraces rewarding their dog despite the level of success. 

Supporting dog in search pattening

This award is for the handler who demonstrates behaviour that supports the dog with their search within the search area, such as the use of voice and body language.

Excellence in working with the dog in front of handler

In a dog lead sport this award goes to the handler who is able to maintain a good working distance, allowing the dog to do it's job and not hindering the search.

Dog awards

Searching with determination

This award goes to the dog that shows determination, they understands the task, and continues to engage and perform despite the results.

Demonstrating clear Search, Locate and Report behaviour

This dog understands what it is there to do. It is able to search the search area, locate the hide/s and report back to the handler. 

Clear reporting at source

This award is for the dog who clearly indicates to their handler that they have found the scent. This can be given even if the handler did not alert to the hide.

Excelling in teamwork

Working together is a key aspect of scent work and what we all aim to achieve. This award is to the team that best works together regardless of the results.
