Odours

Each level builds on the scents used in the previous levels. Level 1 started with one scent level 2 uses Level 1 scent and a new scent and so on as the level increases. The search designer decides which of the available scent/scents are being used for that element.

NOTE: Noseworx detector dog trials have decided to use the odours that are already known and trained in NZ, eliminating the need for dogs and handlers to learn new odours and allowing more dogs and handlers to be involved and compete.

Safety: We use a range of oils some are marked safe for dogs and some are marked as toxic for dogs. It is understood that the limited exposure through the search process is short enough that there would be no risk to the dog or handler.

Dogs will be faulted for picking up or digesting the odour. If digestion of odour happens the handler is responsible for the care and treatment of the dog.
